SCOUT SMILING BOY
You asked how I’m doing
Hoping to hear all is well
To be totally honest
I’m wonderfully swell!
Never been better
Since finding out
That I’m a great person
Even if sometimes I shout
Learned that no one is perfect
Flaws, we all have some
What matters are heart-songs
And where we come from
Now I look for the goodness
In everyday life
Avoiding the bad news
And all the loud strife
At home in the mountains
With the rocks and the birds
Listening to land songs
Sky & earth pure sweet words
They sing of God’s goodness
Each moment I look
To see what is waiting
In small crannies & nooks
Finding smiles, joy & laughter
Right at home with my son
Even lacking a man’s arms
Sure someday there’ll be one
To hold me and love me
Like I know I deserve
Pure woman created
With spunk & nice curve
Meanwhile life’s for living!
And getting out of my bed
Never wasting a moment
‘Til the day I am dead
I still love you, my friend
Praying for you each day
Thanking God for your love
In my heart you will stay
From now and forever
Until dust I will be
Put away in my casket
No more flowers to see
Glad to hear you are playing
Your wooden box strung with strings
To join in the glad songs
That dear Harry still sings
Over & over the music
You gave to me plays
Teaching me lessons
Setting my heart all ablaze
And now I will end
This long poem of joy
Hoping every word finds you
A Scout, smiling boy!
